Students applying to the Italy Center should have a minimum 2.75 GPA and no serious or outstanding behavioral infractions. Students who do not meet these requirements but are still interested in applying should submit an application and contact italy@shc.edu for guidance on next steps.
Students from institutions other than Spring Hill College should first follow their home institution’s procedures for study abroad participation. Applicants from partner institutions should also provide their study abroad advisor’s or study abroad office’s contact information so eligibility can be confirmed.
Students should already have a valid passport or be in the process of obtaining one before applying to the program. Since passport processing times can vary, planning ahead is strongly recommended.
You might be asked for your Social Security Number for enrolment purposes.
After submitting an application, students should allow up to two weeks for processing and an admission decision. Once accepted, students should follow the steps outlined in their acceptance email to confirm their enrollment and begin the pre-departure process.
Students will receive their admission decision by email. Next steps for confirming participation vary by home institution, and accepted students should follow the instructions provided in their acceptance materials.
Tuition payment procedures depend on the student’s home institution. For semester programs, payment is usually handled through the home institution. For summer programs, students are billed directly by the Italy Center and will receive an invoice from the Student Billing Office at Spring Hill College with instructions for how to pay their balance through the Italy Center payment portal.

Placement in Italy Center programs is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a program reaches capacity, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist and may be encouraged to consider a future term.
