CMM 252: Introduction to Media Production Lab (1 credit)
Course description
By focusing on documentary filmmaking within the realm of human rights, this project aims to equip students with the tools, insights, and connections needed to become effective supporters and storytellers for social justice and human rights causes.
A media practitioner's means of production (camera/audio equipment) should become an instinctive extension of themselves. As a consequence, this course will primarily be developed as such: a layered process of training your senses (aesthetic) and your critical thinking (technical) relative to the hardware that you now own. In an introductory course, the study and practice of the "raw" media is primary. Students will produce their work using digital cameras and manage their media files digitally.
Learning objectives
Exploration of Documentary Filmmaking in Human Rights Context: Dive into the realm of documentary filmmaking, particularly within the context of human rights, to deepen understanding and provoke critical thought on social issues.

This allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of working in the film sector.
