Dive deep.

At the core of all Italy Center study abroad programs is the meaningful integration of our core mission pillars: social justice, rigorous academics, cultural and language immersion, and ethical travel. Navigate through to learn more.

Social justice

At the Italy Center, social justice is woven into every program and initiative. Our travel, academic, and co-curricular offerings engage students with the pressing social, cultural, and political challenges facing communities in Italy and around the world. Through immersive learning and meaningful dialogue, we spark conversations that stay with students long after their time at the Italy Center.

Academics

All students commit to undertaking a minimum of 12 credits during our Fall and Spring semesters, of which 3 credits will be from an Italian language course. This high standard for academics ensures that students remain grounded in the true purpose of studying abroad - our courses will accentuate your engagement and understanding of Italy and broaden your global perspective. While providing a lighter course load, our Summer Intensive is equally rigorous.

Cultural and language immersion

Bologna is a beautifully preserved city with an international spirit that remains unmistakably authentic. We intentionally connect students to Italian culture at every step—from comprehensive language courses to programming centered on lived cultural experiences. The result is an immersion that feels genuine, not staged.

Intentional travel

Our travel program is designed to take students to places they likely would not reach on their own. We handle the groundwork so they can experience different regions of Italy and engage directly with local cultures and community organisations. It is a travel experience that is immersive, thoughtful, and hard to replicate independently.
